Christmas Gifts

On my  computer I have a program that tells me how many days until Christmas. Today it says 13 days. As the reality of how close Christmas is, I realized I had not even started my Christmas shopping. Panic began to set in as I wondered what to give my husband. What does one give a husband? A new tie – no that was Father’s Day. A new shirt – no that was his birthday. Hmm…

Then it dawned on me. What about doing something like the 12 days of Christmas. The first Christmas after we got married (which was our first Christmas together) I did a special 12 days of Christmas for Karl. I started by waking him up early and taking him to eat at IHOP. Then each day I did a little something for him. At that time he was needing new socks, etc.

But now 4 years later, what do I do. We have the little ones, so it wouldn’t be as special getting them up early, and dealing with the fussiness of being woke up. What could I do… Then God brought to mind an idea that was shared with me one time.

Sit down today and write down 12 things you appreciate about your hubby. Then begin to write 12 notes to your hubby. You could decorate them extra special (glitter, special punches, special scissors, draw, Scripture verse, take a picture of yourself). Then in the evening leave the note on his plate at the supper table or on his pillow before bed. You could also leave it on the sink in the morning before he gets up. You may want to even leave a bit of his favorite candy from time to time.

Thank him for everything. You could begin with the little things he does and work up each day to something bigger, saving what you consider the best for last. You could praise him for the different character qualities you see in his life. You may want to start or end by writing him a letter expressing your love and gratefulness.

This is an inexpensive gift that would mean so very much to him. Read back over the first chapter of “Created to Be His Help Meet” and remember you are God’s gift to your husband. God created you just perfect for your husband. Now take time to thank you  husband for all the wonderful things he does for you each day  and get creative.

This is just an idea that I have. Do you have ideas you would like to share? Have you ever done this before? How did it work?

If you decide to try this please share with us how it went and few of the things you are thankful your hubby does for you.
